Villas in Lanzarote

The unique, beautiful island of Lanzarote is situated only 79 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands.  The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20km) wide making it the fouth largest island on the Canaries.  Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temparatures ranging from about 21 degrees in Jan to 30 degrees in August. The annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5"). This makes Lanzarote the perfect all year-round destination.  As with all of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is volcanic in origin.  Due to the eruptions which occurred in  the 18th and 19th century, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as "lunar" or "martian".  The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the volcanic landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.

Amongst the many stunning volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest volcanic tunnel in the world, The Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7km long and includes the La Cueva de Los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.  Despite the volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful white beaches such as Playa Blanca, Papagayo & Famara.

There are many fabulous restaurants in Lanzarote which offer outstanding cuisine, and of course the famous Lagomar restaurant in Nazaret (the former home of Omar Sharif) where you can enjoy the very best of gastronomy all prepared for you by the International  Head Chef Luis Leon. Dining here is a very magical experience and the stunning surroundings are indeed another fine example of the superb design/art work of Lanzarote's famous Architect Cesar Manrique.  Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise bulidings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife).

Playa Blanca, once a small fishing village is the most southerly resort on this beautiful island and is approx 37 miles from the capital Arrecife.  Holidays in Playa Blanca give you the opportunity to sample some fabulous white sandy beaches and outstanding cuisine. The resort is suited to families as well as couples looking for a peaceful and relaxing break.  There is a very good selection of bars and restaurants, many of which can be found on the promenade overlooking Playa Blanca's beaches, where you will find local fresh fish/seafood delicacies and typical Spanish dishes are popular on the menu.  A visit to the chic and stylish Marina Rubicon is a must, with a selection of designer boutiques, upmarket restaurants and bars, all set within stunning surroundings.

There are two golf courses in Lanzarote, one is situated in Costa Tequise and the other in Puerto Del Carmen.
